Every year Growth500.com will undertake a web-based survey to identify the fastest growing businesses in East Africa. The survey is open to all types of small, medium, and large businesses based in the following countries: Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, and Burundi.

Growth500.com is open to all types of businesses in all kinds of industries, including both profit and non-profit, from all sectors:

  • private sector (sole proprietorships, partnerships, limited liabilities),
  • public sector (government, municipal, other public),
  • co-operative sector,
  • non-governmental organizations (NGOs),
  • community based organizations (CBOs),
  • faith based organizations (FBOs).

Participating businesses need only provide their 2006 and 2005 figures for the following to qualify for consideration:

  • Gross Revenues,
  • Profits Before Tax,
  • Total Assets,
  • Total Liabilities,
  • Shareholders Funds,
  • Number of Employees
  • Number of Customers

Any business found submitting false information will be disqualified from past, present, and future surveys, rankings, and indices. Their respective auditors will also be blacklisted and banned from confirming information for other participating businesses.


Guidelines:

We have tried to make this Survey as simple as possible. To be eligible for the 2006 Growth 500 Survey, your business must meet two basic criteria:

  1. Be based in East & Central Africa.
  2. Must have at least two years of audited accounts.

Regardless of when your financial year begins and ends, you must submit your performance figures within certain parameters so that we can compare businesses fairly. Please use the following to determine what figures you should fill in for each financial year.

  • Financial year 2006 must end between April 1, 2006, and March 31, 2007.
  • Financial year 2005 must end between April 1, 2005, and March 31, 2006.
